Paper Fools – Review

IMG_9771editedFormerly known as Deer in Headlights, Staci Hart has completely rewritten and re-edited the story and re-released it under a new cover and new name: Paper Fools.
Deer in Headlights has been waiting on my TBR for ages. The re-release of Paper Fools was the perfect opportunity to finally dive into the world of Greek Gods and New York City.

Aphrodite is the Greek God of Love but don’t you dare ask about her personal love life. It is way too messy and complicated. She would rather focus on a game that the Greek Gods of Olympus love: toying with human hearts. And this time the stakes are higher than ever before.
There is no denying that Lex wants Dean and Dean wants Lex, but they are not supposed to want each other. With wanting Lex, Dean can lose everything he ever worked for in his life. Is he willing to sacrifice that for a chance with her? Lex on the other hand is too afraid to put her heart on the line. And she is certain, if Dean ever breaks her heart, there will be no coming back from it. Will love be worth the risk for her? Continue reading “Paper Fools – Review”

Hollywood Dirt – Review

IMG_9167I’ve had this novel on my TBR for quite some time and I finally had the chance to read it. And thanks to Ashley’s awesome birthday present last month, I had the chance to read a signed and personalized (!) copy. ♥

Hollywood meets dirt road. Cole Masten meets Summer Jenkins.
When Hollywood actor and newest bachelor Cole Masten decided to film his new movie in small town Quincy, Georgia, no one was prepared for the havoc he would cause – and least of them Summer. Or was Cole not prepared to meet the feisty blonde? Either way, Cole and Summer were from different worlds and when they collided, no one was sure if they made it out alive. The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C. Cherry

Release Date: April 13th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

Thirteen Reasons Why – Review

IMG_9700.editedThirteen Reasons Why is definitely not your typical young adult novel. When I heard it was adapted for a tv show and would release soon, I saw this is as an opportunity to finally read the novel.
Clay Jensen comes home from school to find a strange package waiting for him. It only has his address but not the return address written on it. Inside he finds a bunch of recorded cassette tapes from Hannah Baker – the Hannah Baker who committed suicide only two weeks earlier. On the cassette tapes Hannah explains there are thirteens reasons why she killed herself – Clay is one of them.

It is really difficult for me to find the right words to express my feelings. On the one hand, the story didn’t completely blow away my mind as I hoped it would, but on the other hand it is still a great book with such a strong and important message for all of us. There will be a battle, and you will need to protect your heart.

Kjell of Jeru had always known who he was. He’d never envied his brother or wanted to be king. He was the bastard son of the late King Zoltev and a servant girl, and the ignominy of his birth had never bothered him.

But there is more to a man than his parentage. More to a man than his blade, his size, or his skills, and all that Kjell once knew has shifted and changed. He is no longer simply Kjell of Jeru, a warrior defending the crown. Now he is a healer, one of the Gifted, and a man completely at odds with his power.

Called upon to rid the country of the last vestiges of the Volgar, Kjell stumbles upon a woman who has troubling glimpses of the future and no memory of the past. Armed with his unwanted gift and haunted by regret, Kjell becomes a reluctant savior, beset by old enemies and new expectations. With the woman by his side, Kjell embarks upon a journey where the greatest test may be finding the man she believes him to be.

Edge of Brotherhood – Shared Review

The “Love on the Edge” series by Molly E. Lee is full of adventure, thrill and lots of adrenaline. Molly took us storm chasing twice in Oklahoma, treasure hunting in Israel and deep sea diving in the Bahamas. This time, she takes us on an even bigger adventure: we are about to discover the Amazon rainforest. And not only Easton will be there. Dash, Connell and the girls are on board too! Yes! You read correctly! All the guys in one novel! How cool is that? But it gets even better: Molly introduces us to a new man on the edge. Wade is a stuntman and this adventure will be his and the guys’ biggest yet.

Easton is certain that he found the lost city of Paititi in the Amazon rainforest. The production company of his TV show takes this as an opportunity to air a special series of the discovery. For the next leg of his expedition, Easton now needs experienced and skilled crew members to help him uncover the treasures hidden in the half submerged temple. For that, the production company hired storm chaser Dash, deep sea diver Connell and stuntman Wade. All four men need to work together and combine their individual skills in order to survive in the jungle. But this is easier said than done since the jungle has its own rules of survival. But is the Amazon jungle really their biggest threat on this mission? Continue reading “Edge of Brotherhood – Shared Review”

Confess – Review

IMG_9678editedColleen Hoover is without a doubt one of my favorite authors. I found out about her and her books through a book recommendation column on my favorite German radio station in 2014 while still living in the US. Ha! I didn’t know that that particular recommendation would affect me and my love for reading so much. Sure, I was an avid reader back then (at least that’s how I saw myself as, since I read about 7 or 8 books a year), but finding out about Colleen and that genre tenfolded my book reading number. Maybe I should write a thank you note to that radio station? 🙂
Everytime Colleen announces a new book, it goes to my TBR straightaway. I don’t need a blurb or a cover; it’s Colleen Hoover, so of course I will read her new release. What CoHort wouldn’t? Confess, which was released in March 2015, was one of those books. Almost two years later, the novel was picked up for a scripted TV show by Awestruck and – guess what?! – it releases today! Yay!
In honor of today’s release, I decided to re-read Confess and publish this review for you. I made it as spoiler-free as I could. Continue reading “Confess – Review”
