The Summer Remains – Review

IMG_9796editedI was in need of an ugly cry read for quite some time now. You know, I love a great and funny NA book; they make me happy and swoon over the guys, hoping to meet one of those book-boyfriends in real life one day. But sometimes I don’t need a happy ending, I need a book that breaks my heart and makes my eyes tear up over the story. And since The Summer Remains by Seth King made it on the Huffington Post’s list of Ugly Cry Books, I was hoping this novel would do the trick.

Summer Johnson is used to hospitals and doctors. And when she gets the news of having to undergo a risky surgery in three months’ time that may or may not end up with her being dead, she decides to go against doctor’s orders and live her life like a normal 24-year-old. In hopes of falling in love in her possible last few months on earth, she downloads a new dating app. But what she doesn’t expect is Cooper Nichols, the beautiful surfer boy who turns her world upside down in the best possible way. Revelry – Review

IMG_9835editedEveryone was raving about Kandi Steiner‘s new release, even before it was even available for purchase. So of course I had to buy Revelry and read it too.

Wren Ballard is a successful Seattle based fashion designer. Her love life, however, is anything but successful: she is 27 and freshly divorced. To free her mind of the past few months, she decides to spend the summer in the mountains just outside of Seattle. Wren finds the perfect place to stay and the people in town make her feel welcome immediately. Well, not all of them. Her broody and good-looking neighbor seems not to care about Wren at all. But Anderson Black does not only care about her, he doesn’t really care about anyone in town. He is lost and has his own demons to fight, this is why he can’t deal with someone else’s problems on top of his. But this all changes when he comes face to face with Wren. Sometimes you need to get lost in order to find yourself. Continue reading “Revelry – Review”

Who Needs Air – Review

IMG_9781editedHow often have you read a book that made you genuinely happy? And I don’t mean a re-read of your favorite book, because, well, it is obvious that it makes you happy. I mean a new book. One that you were a little skeptic about at first because the blurb sounded too good to be true. A new book with a great plot, a little drama and the perfect ending. I’ve read a bunch of books so far this year, but only a few made me feel this way, and, minor issues aside, Who Needs Air was one of them.

Campbell Potter has good reason to be stressed: on top of organizing a big project for work, she has to deal with her ex-boyfriend August who only arrived back in town a few days ago. But not any ex-boyfriend, no: The love of her life, to be exact. THE love of her life who walked out on her five years ago. THE love of her life who wrote a book about their love story, published it and became a bestselling author. Now he is back in their hometown to overseeing the filming of  his bestseller as it is turned into a movie. But Cam made a promise to herself: the day August left five years ago was the ending of their story. There is no chance of a sequel. But August has different plans because he already started writing the conclusion to their epic love story. Continue reading “Who Needs Air – Review”

Hollywood Dirt – Review

IMG_9167I’ve had this novel on my TBR for quite some time and I finally had the chance to read it. And thanks to Ashley’s awesome birthday present last month, I had the chance to read a signed and personalized (!) copy. ♥

Hollywood meets dirt road. Cole Masten meets Summer Jenkins.
When Hollywood actor and newest bachelor Cole Masten decided to film his new movie in small town Quincy, Georgia, no one was prepared for the havoc he would cause – and least of them Summer. Or was Cole not prepared to meet the feisty blonde? Either way, Cole and Summer were from different worlds and when they collided, no one was sure if they made it out alive. Edge of Brotherhood – Shared Review

The “Love on the Edge” series by Molly E. Lee is full of adventure, thrill and lots of adrenaline. Molly took us storm chasing twice in Oklahoma, treasure hunting in Israel and deep sea diving in the Bahamas. This time, she takes us on an even bigger adventure: we are about to discover the Amazon rainforest. And not only Easton will be there. Dash, Connell and the girls are on board too! Yes! You read correctly! All the guys in one novel! How cool is that? But it gets even better: Molly introduces us to a new man on the edge. Wade is a stuntman and this adventure will be his and the guys’ biggest yet.

Easton is certain that he found the lost city of Paititi in the Amazon rainforest. The production company of his TV show takes this as an opportunity to air a special series of the discovery. For the next leg of his expedition, Easton now needs experienced and skilled crew members to help him uncover the treasures hidden in the half submerged temple. For that, the production company hired storm chaser Dash, deep sea diver Connell and stuntman Wade. All four men need to work together and combine their individual skills in order to survive in the jungle. But this is easier said than done since the jungle has its own rules of survival. But is the Amazon jungle really their biggest threat on this mission? Continue reading “Edge of Brotherhood – Shared Review”

The Allure of Julian Lefray- Shared Review

IMG_9259editedCan I just say, I love R.S. Grey?! When life sucks with entirely too much adulting going on (hello, responsibility), Grey’s books are a welcome distraction and escape from reality. Her writing is always fun, easy to get lost in, and witty.

The Allure of Julian Lefray was no exception! I enjoyed being able to buddy read this story with Sabrina and laugh together at the comical one-liners. We both agreed Julian was one of the dreamiest book boyfriends we’ve read of. He has practically no flaws, always thinks of the right thing to do and say, not to mention he’s Josephine’s hunky boss – ding, ding, ding, Jo hit the jackpot! Infinity + One – Review

Amy Harmon…I could go on and on about this amazing lady’s talents. Since discovering her books last year, after reading The Bird and the Sword, I’ve been slowly making my way through her entire catalog. Her writing appeals to my personality so perfectly, and some of her books are among my all- time favorite reads. Her books are beautiful mix of feeling, romance, and faith. She weaves together elements within the story-line so flawlessly, I always find myself wondering how she does it. The glimpse her writing gives into her brain never fails to make me want more!
